It was a very nice role of a homely and charming Thanjavur girl. Working on the sets was fun as I would get ragged by everyone. It was like being with the family. When we were shooting in Thanjavur, we were overwhelmed with the crowd that came to watch us. They had never seen a film shooting before and were very supportive and helpful.
It was the scene where I had to get on a moving bus. It was really tough. I fell down and got bruised. I cried a bit. Some of the initial scenes in the film were shot when I had fever and that was tough too; I just had injections and carried on.
He is very hard-working and it was very comfortable. He teaches you very well and it was like being with family. At the end of the film, he told me that my performance was good and natural. I feel proud.
Director Mani Ratnam saw the songs of the film and told me they were nice and asked me to keep it up. Many people told me I was natural. On networking sites, I had feedback that the role felt real. Many related to me and said I resembled their `pakkathu veetu ponnu’ or lover. I was happy.
Shooting for this film is yet to start. I play a character where there is both a village and a modern city girl portion.
The film is being directed by Director Jeeva and I have a performance-oriented role, a little mature character.
There is no major difference between the industry working styles; the style of working depends on the director. The Tamil industry is bigger though.
